During Milan Design Week, Talenti, an iconic high-end outdoor brand, and Salvioni Milano Durini showroom will launch the provocative Green Evolution project that will showcase Milan’s most glamorous terraces transformed into unique locations with a strong visual impact. True oases of sustainability where furniture and nature blend perfectly to create a unique experience, showing how elegance and respect for the environment can go hand in hand in the name of design.
The concept
Sustainability is not a fad but an imperative that the Talenti brand has decided to make its own for this edition of the Fuorisalone. The luxurious terraces of Via Durini 3 became the ideal setting to launch a message about the defense of our planet. Through evocative installations evolving around the common theme of nets (rope or metal) and plastic bottles, Ludovica+Roberto Palomba wanted to call attention to the dramatic situation of our oceans and seas where it is estimated that between 86 and 150 million tons of plastic have accumulated, in some cases forming actual islands. With Talenti, ecological consciousness moves to center stage, transformed and embodied through concrete application in terms of both production processes and materials.
A new fabric made from 100% recycled, post-consumer PET bottles
After years of research, the Umbrian brand is introducing new collections that feature a 100% green fabric created from recycled, post-consumer PET bottles, which is also recyclable when it reaches the end of its lifecycle. Fully in tune with the circular design philosophy, this range of fabrics is Made in Italy, using local suppliers and a unique production process. Through a chemical-free, mechanical process that is safe for the environment, the plastic bottles are transformed into small flakes, then into polymers, and finally into recycled PET fiber. The use of recycled polyester, which requires fewer processing steps, allows considerable energy and water savings and a clear reduction in carbon emissions during the production process.
This incredible material boasts some impressive numbers: 64% less energy waste, 94% less water waste, and a 32% reduction in CO2 emissions.
